Suegra

Denise was Suegra to me and I was sometimes Yerno (may not be correct spelling!) to her. This came about from me taking Spanish lessons in Petersfield and always joining her for lunch afterwards. (The 2 words are Spanish for mother in law and son in law). In some ways we had a bit of a classic son in law / mother in law relationship but I like to think that we also both liked and respected each other. Denise was a very bright and intelligent person until her end and was extremely proud of Estelle's work and lifetime achievements which gave her tremendous pleasure.
Denise and my mother also developed a strong affection for each other and they both had many great holidays together with Estelle and I and spent many Christmas's together with us. She was also well liked by my sister and brother and the rest of my family.
My family will all miss her but we can all take great comfort that she had a long, happy and (until recent times) healthy life and believed in her God until the end. It was very comforting that the Hospital vicar was with her near to the end with prayers and comforting words and that Estelle was with her throughout her final hours.
I am sure she will rest in peace.
